about

ARTIST STATEMENT

I like to challenge myself with new concepts and materials that I can develop into a series of thought-provoking artworks.  Whimsical treatments and bold colors are hallmarks of my work.  Lately, I’ve become fascinated by working with hair.  It is a universal object that I am incorporating into my artwork to connect with viewers of all cultures.  You can see these works in the “conceptual” tab of this website.  Among my influences are my experiences from travel, spiritual quests and childhood memories.

The artworks of Elizabeth Murray, Milton Avery and Marc Chagall have inspired me to try new and different approaches.

BIOGRAPHY

I received Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA), in Baltimore, Maryland.  After running a ceramic business and working full time as a Career Development Specialist in colleges and universities for over 25 years, I moved to Munich, Germany.  While living in Munich, I studied with a local recognized abstract artist and took workshops in France, Italy and Hungary, reawakening my love for painting.  Since my return in 2002, I have pursued my passion for creating art in a variety of mediums.
